You’ve probably tried selling something before, and you got turned down so many times, right? And over time, you began to lose confidence in yourself and your ability to hit a sale and just concluded that, “Man, this is just hard!” Well, it doesn’t have to be.
Well, of course, the job of a salesperson is not easy. And a major roadblock to surmount is that a lot of prospective customers would see you as untrustworthy trying to sell them what they don’t need or are uninterested in. It appears difficult to tackle, but a critical look at that would reveal that it’s actually an advantage instead.
I won’t be sharing sales techniques with you here, a lot of people do that already. But I’m am going to show you a different light, and how you can use that to your advantage. Without further ado, let me teach you how to sell to anyone, anytime, anywhere.
One big problem with beginner salespeople is that they rely way too much on “techniques” and all of the stuff. It’s great to have sales techniques that work for you, but that is just one side of the coin. A lot of people have focused too much on “making a sale”, have focused on their clients so much that they’ve forgotten to screen the “me” factor, and how it can contribute to not being able to pull off a sale.

What You Can Do About It
1. Expect the sale
This is more of a mindset thing. Never go into any sale unsure about yourself, and doubting if you could successfully pull off a sale. You may not realize it, but it actually affects your confidence, and you absolutely need that to pull sales off easier. Because when you go into a sale expectant, your client can undoubtedly sense it, and their seeming belief that they don’t want to buy anything would be definitely crippled by your expectations.
Go into all sales psychologically prepared, and positive affirmations can help you build this habit if you may struggle to go into your sales feeling confident and expectant. So, you could write down a few sentences that depict the “perfect” sale. Repeat them over and over again until you begin to believe it yourself.
2. Work on communicating
In one word, that’s simply what you sell! Stop going around looking for the next “trick to selling effectively”, and start working on being a better communicator. Building rapport, developing trust in your clients and building a relationship. This won’t happen if you haven’t mastered the art of communication.
A great point of call is to take courses on Emotional Intelligence, and you will be amazed at how much more you’ll improve on selling. You’ll learn to be able to use emotions to get people attached to your product and react with a buy, and that’s a big plus for you there.
One of the major success of Apple was due to the fact that its founder, Steve Jobs, was the master of the message. He was a badass storyteller, and that helped him enhance his brand. It was like he understood what buttons to push to elicit an expected reaction from people, and that made him stand out as one of the most exceptional business leaders ever.
Take a little time off, ask yourself some questions like, “what else has been keeping me from making great sales?” Introspect, think it through, and improve on yourself. Only then would you be able to sell to anyone, anytime, anywhere.
