There is something amazing about starting your day right, it sets the mood for the rest of the day. A lot of successful entrepreneurs understand this, and that’s why so many of them have rituals or routines they make it a habit to do every morning.
Unlike the average person that wakes up, stretches, looks by the right or left, and picks up their mobile phones, log on to their social media accounts while still on their bed and feel depressed seeing other people do great stuff while they themselves are still on their beds. Don’t be average.
I will be showing you some morning rituals of really successful entrepreneurs. From the Legendary Steve Jobs to Tim Ferriss, Oprah, and others. Don’t think you have to integrate every single one of these routines into yours, you don’t. You could pick the ones that would work best for you and stick to it because the most important word here is ‘consistency.’
But how do you know how to select your routines? How do you know if a particular morning routine would positively affect your day?
Thankfully, Tai Lopez has an approach to this. He talks about personality and how that would determine one’s morning rituals. There are four dominant personality types he talks about.
1. Practical – These sets of people love highly structured routines.
2. Action – These ones love anything physical. Anything that makes them sweat.
3. Social – These ones are extroverted types who enjoy the company of other people.
4. Emotional – These sets of people are more introverted and enjoy quiet time and introspection.
It’s very possible for you to be a mixture of personalities, know which ones apply better to you and then structure your routines accordingly.
Without further ado, morning rituals of wildly successful entrepreneurs.
1. Make Your Bed
Funny right? Well, this one is from Tim Ferriss. He explains that it fills him with a sense of accomplishment. Then he meditates for about 20 minutes, engages in a 30 seconds exercise, and then takes tea.
This one applies to a whole lot of successful people. Tim Ferriss who I just mentioned, Oprah Winfrey, and even the former President of The United States of America, Barack Obama. This has an amazing way of not only making your body feel better but also your mind. Research shows that people who exercise in the morning have more energy during the day than those who do not.
3. Eat a Live Frog
“Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” – Mark Twain.
Don’t worry, you are not going to be eating any frog. What he was trying to say is to tackle your biggest tasks in the morning and you have conquered your day. When we wake, we are always at our peak.
And energy level is usually high, and then depletes as the day progresses. That’s a great reason we should prioritize this one. Select one big and ugly looking live frog and eat it all up (that just doesn’t sound good at all).
4. Make a To-Do List
A To-do list is an amazing way to prioritize your daily activities and provide you with a guide so that you have something to focus on. Entrepreneurs understand that as humans, there are a whole lot of distractions that want to take our time.
So, they either write their to-do when they wake up or write their to-do for the next day just before they go to bed at night.
5. Positive Affirmations
This one is my favourite as it just sets you on an emotional and psychological high. Look into the mirror, or just close your eyes or whatever, and say very positive things about yourself. “I am a Maverick! I am the best XYZ the world would ever know!”
Say positive things about you and see yourself doing them, or becoming them. Because motivation can give you the power you need to keep you focused on your activities for the day.
As I said, you don’t need to do every one of this. Select those that apply to you and stick to them. What did I miss? What methods have worked marvellously for you? Let’s discuss in the comments section.
